- "OVER THE HILLS...": After being on No. 1 in the official finnish album charts for three weeks, Nightwish's new mini-CD Over The Hills And Far Away has already sold gold (Source: Nightwish).

- Last news by Hans (July 2): We just finished our 'if_then-else' tour 2000/2001 at the Roskilde festival. On behalf of the band thank you very much for visiting our gigs. We will work on the new album the upcoming months, and have some well-deserved holidays as well. The only live activities will be held in The Netherlands (support act: TeNK, see tourdates), and we are not planning any touring activities during the coming 10 months. We know we didn't play in every country (we did 21 countries this last tour!). This has nothing to do with the band. We like to play everywhere, as long as we are booked. Unfortunately we have to inform you that Michiel will have his last concert with WT on the 14th of July at Vlietpop in the NL.
Because of our close friendship it did not come as a surprise to the rest of the band. We fully understand and support his decision.
Although we will really miss him on stage we are happy to know that he will stay closely involved with WT in the future, as webmaster, multimedia-expert and of course as a real close friend.
Michiel: Thanks a lot for your companionship, your commitment to WT and the effort you have put into the band. And of course…This is not "Our Farewell" ;-)

- On monday the 28th of May, Within Temptation will be releasing a special version of the new Ice Queen single. The single will contain three different versions of Ice Queen (he normal single version, an un-released demo version and a live version). Besides this, the single will also contain three other unreleased songs and demotracks.
- This special expanded version (6 tracks in total) will only be available for one month, after which a two-track single will be released. If you want to help Within Temptation out, you should buy the single at some major recordshop, because that's the only way to get the single registered for a position in the charts. Starmaker, eat this :-) For the video that will hopefully accompany the single, material has been taped in both 013 and the Melkweg. Within Temptation website.

- The Gathering just returned from their European tour; it was a great success for the band. For the rest of this year, the band will be "on the dark side of the moon". At the beginning of the summer, June/July, some shows will probably be done, a few festivals, and probably a short dutch club tour, but all the rest of the time will basically be spent writing and recording songs for the new album; time to take some rest; time for introspection.
- Downfall-The Early Years (HHR076 2-CD/CD) will be released april 9th!!! It features an unreleased 7" and the two demos (An Imaginary Symphony and Moonlight Archer) in the best sound possible. The first 10.000 copies of the CD will be shipped as a 2CD and has a complete live-show from 1991 on CD-Rom. (Source: The Gathering).

The opera metal gods of Finland release a full-length concert DVD with a Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound on the 21st of May 2001 !!! The concert part of the DVD features 15 songs of full opera metal mayhem, filmed in front of 1500 Finnish fans, at the sold-out Pakkahuone Club, Tampere, Finland.
The extra features include 27 minutes of off-stage footage filmed on their Wishmaster World Tour 2000 around Europe and in Canada.
As an extra bonus you will get two promo videos, The Carpenter (from their debut album Angels Fall First, the first Nightwish promo video ever !!!) and the magnificent Sleeping Sun (from the Oceanborn album), plus two live promo videos: The Kinslayer (live in Buenos Aires, Argentina) and Walking In The Air (live in Montreal, Canada).

- Nightwish are nominated for one of the most important music awards, the Echo award. The show will be broadcasted live on the internet:
Nightwish has been nominated for the "german Grammy", the Echo award. They are nominated for "Best New Rock/Metal" along with the Guano Apes, Such A Surge, Hammerfall and Souldfly. The show, which is already sold out, will be held on march 15th in Berlin. The show will be broadcasted live by RTL television in Germany. Even though Nightwish will be in the studio at that time, Tarja and Tuomas will travel to Berlin to represent Nightwish. The next morning they will fly back to Finland to do sing-recording in the Finnvox studios, Helsinki. In addition to the TV broadcasting, the show will be streamed live to the internet as Windows Media Stream. The live-streaming will begin on march 15th at 7 p.m. (CET). The link will be on the official Echo-homepage only minutes before it starts. Unfortunately, the Echo-homepage is only available in german so you might have to guess the link. - The Nightwish DVD is almost finished. Tuomas took part in the editing sessions during the last four days and he says the DVD looks great. "It was a hard job, on the last day we spent 22 hours with editing...", says Tuomas. There will be two previews of the DVD in movie theaters (in Finland, the March 28 and April 04). Spinefarm Records will release the DVD and VHS in Finland on April 17th. The release date in your country may be different.
- Nightwish will begin with the recording of their new MCD on February 23rd in the Caverock-studio in Kitee. Tarja's singing will be recorded by legendary Mikko Karmila in the Finnvox-studio in Helsinki. The mixing of the CD will also be done by Mr. Karmila. A cover-song on the MCD will be the legendary song "Over The Hills And Far Away" by Gary Moore. There will also be two new own songs on the MCD and a remake of "Astral Romance" (from the Nightwish- album Angels Fall First). The special guest star will be Sonata Arctica's singer Tony !! - The Gathering: Hammerheart records will release the very first rehearsal, demo, and 7" on one remastered CD. There will be a limited edition double CD box with a live registration of The Gathering at the Willem II, Den Bosch too. These recording were made november 24th 1991, at the 'Death metal Discovery II' festival. Note: this is with former vocalist Bart, and without Anneke! This is the very beginning of the band. The CD title is probably: Downfall - the early days and the tracklisting (double titles indicate tracks from two separate releases) of CD 1 is: In sickness & Health, Gaya's Dream, Always..., Subzero, Anthology in Black, Second Sunrise, Downfall, In sickness and Health, Second Sunrise, Six dead, three to go, Downfall, Another Day and Share the Wisdom. The live tracklist of the CD-rom is not confirmed yet. Releasedate: somewhere spring 2001. It will be a mid-priced CD.
- The Amity EP will be in the shops 5 february 2001. This EP contains the following tracks: Amity RadioMix, Amity TripPopRadioRemix, Amity TimecodeAudioRemix, Amity ExtendedTripRemix, Amity ThreePeople Remix, Amity Live @ "Isabelle" - Dutch radio program, Life's what you make it and CDrom video track "the recording of Life's what you make it". Hugo made the videoclip. The Amity remixes are very diverse and sometimes quite surprising. It's like listening to a new album. It lasts more then 40 minutes, value for money ! They're going to put an MP3 on our homepage, but they don't know which song yet. (Source: The Gathering).

- The recordings for the next Dreams of Sanity album (working title THE END were already sceduled for March 2001 again in the Impuls Studios in Hamburg, but as for the moment they have to postpone the recording untill further notice because the band splitted with their label HALL OF SERMON. Not only as a concequence of this SANDRA SCHLERET has left the band and is now member of the band Siegfried. So the future of Dreams of Sanity is not certain at the moment, but the band will definetly continue ! They are also proud to present their fantastic NEW SINGER BARBARA PEER !!!
